Knowledge Management of Indigenous Vegetation for the Rehabilitation of Degraded Rangelands in the Arid Zone of Africa
Client
United Nations Office for Project Services
Year
2007
Description
Kimetrica is developing a knowledge management system for the capture and dissemination of biodiversity conservation and dry land ecosystem restoration in arid and semi-arid zones of Africa. The project combines community-based indigenous knowledge, the findings of scientific research, and past practical experience to rehabilitate degraded ecosystems and conserve biodiversity within an internet based information system. The system is intended to facilitate an exchange of knowledge and experience between three comparable but different situations and foster the development of models, which can be transferred elsewhere within the continent. This project is being undertaken by Kimetrica staff in Mali, Kenya and Botswana.
